About Pod

Hi, I'm Iskren

I love nostalgic technology. For a while I'd been considering buying an iPod, but the high prices, lack of Spotify support and no Bluetooth kept me delaying. That's when I decided to build Pod as part of my participation in BuildSpace Season 5.

Pod to this day satisfies my need for an iPod by delivering the nostalgic iPod feeling through my desktop, while staying connected to Spotify and AirPods. What started as a personal project became something that thousands of people resonate with — the desire to experience that iconic click wheel and simple, focused music player in a modern setup.

What makes Pod different

Unlike web-based iPod emulators, Pod is a native macOS application weighing just 1.9MB. It uses your Mac's trackpad for click wheel navigation with real haptic feedback — you can actually feel the clicks. It supports over 40,000 internet radio stations, local music files (MP3, FLAC, AAC, WAV), and Spotify integration is on the way.

Built with care

Every detail in Pod is designed to recreate the authentic iPod experience — from the menu animations to the scroll inertia on the click wheel. It's the closest thing to holding an iPod Classic without actually owning one.
